Michelle Welygan is an accomplished film and television professional with a dynamic background in journalism, documentary filmmaking, and publicity. Her multifaceted career reflects a deep commitment to storytelling, strategic communication, and championing creative work in the entertainment industry.

Michelle’s career spans unit publicity for a broad range of projects, including network television series, as well as content for major streaming platforms such as Netflix, Apple TV+, and Amazon Prime Video. Her work extends to feature films, dramatic shorts, and documentaries. She has also represented talent and projects at major industry events including The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and The Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF).

As a corporate publicist, Michelle has held key roles at The Feldman Agency and The Characters Talent Agency, where she also provided personal publicity for a select roster of actors, musicians, filmmakers, and authors. Among her notable achievements, she spearheaded the entertainment publicity for Diana Krall’s high-profile charitable galas, An Evening with Diana Krall and Friends, and hosted a press conference featuring both Krall and Elvis Costello.

In addition to her publicity work, Michelle is an award-winning documentary producer, director, and writer. A former television reporter and producer for CTV News, she spent a decade running her own production company, with documentaries broadcast nationally in prime time and distributed internationally.

Michelle has contributed to the industry as an instructor in Writing for Film, TV & Interactive Media at Vancouver Film School and as a board member of the Canadian Independent Film Caucus.

She holds a Bachelor of Journalism (Highest Honours) from Carleton University and is a graduate of the Telefilm Canada Executive Management Program. She is also an award-winning journalist.
